First off I specialize in shooting racing events such as marathons, triathlons, 5ks, 100m bike races, etc. The old way to do this when conditions are dark, pre dawn or after sunset was to us a speedlite and dial it down to 1/32. Pop a few clicks and hope the lite will recycle. This method is constraining and keeps image count too low.
Using the godox sl200 II give me plenty of light to shoot high speed continuous. ISO 1600 1/500 F/4 at approx 100mm on a full frame. Problem is the light is so bright that many racers are squinting as they run past.
THe fv200 is the answer! I keep the model light on low Turn on the flash to 1/4 power and voila. Easily 10 frames per second. Model light is enough to achieve focus with no squinting and flash gives plenty of light. Again ISO 1600, 1/500, f/4 at approx 100mm then fill the frame with the runner/biker.
Use a power station to power the light and you can easily pop 1000 flashes and barely move the needle on the power station.
Will be buying a second unit soon!
